The Prayer Shawl ministry at RHUC has been part of our caring for each other for 14 years.  Many, many shawls have been made by women either in a group at the church or at home; the gift tag attached to each says “This prayer shawl was made with love and prayer by Richmond Hill United Church“ and the book records over 324 shawls have been given.

In past years, we gathered at the church in the chapel during the season of Lent and enjoyed chatting with others as we made shawls - many patterns and assistance have been shared, nurturing friendships.  We have not gathered this year because when I took a count, we have 50 finished shawls ready to give - the pandemic gave extra time to knit and crochet!

Please tell Deb or Karen or me if you know of someone who is grieving a death or is experiencing ill-health or there has been a celebration like a birth in their family so they can be given a shawl. This is a way we can extend our caring to others.

Thank you, crafters and givers.
