Lunch & Learn

There will be a Lunch and Learn immediately following the service on Sunday
November 16 to discuss the United Church’s Toward 2035 project.

Data has been gathered from every congregation in the United Church of Canada to
describe the situation in 1992 and in 2023, showing a disturbing decline in such factors
as membership, weekly attendance, number of givers, etc. Those trends are projected
forward to show what conditions will be in 2035 if nothing changes – if nothing
changes….

But this is not a story of inevitable decline because things can and will change. The
church has adopted a strategic direction to work toward a future where the United
Church thrives through a strong denominational identity characterized by cooperation
and collaboration, with resilient, inspired, diverse communities of faith more closely
reflecting the racial, ethnic and generational diversity of Canada, embodying Christ’s
presence in our time and place.
