You may or may not have heard through the grapevine that the Worship Committee has a new name, Spiritual Practice Team (SPT) and a bit of a different mandate.  The SPT will continue to focus on Sunday worship, but we will start to encompass and introduce other spiritual practices, perhaps at other times during the week.

Current members of the team include Karen Dale, Barry Peters, Joan Verner, Anne Leyton-Brown, Anne Dunn, Carol Moore, Linda Clark, and Sandra Loughton (team leader). Recently, Harry Ramsaran and Dominick Shelton have retired from the SPT and we certainly appreciate their dedication and service over the years.

The Sanctuary Committee is a group which falls under the umbrella of the Spiritual Practice Team. This is a dedicated group of volunteers who work throughout the year to ensure that our sanctuary is beautifully decorated and ready for the various seasons of the church year. Think flowers, banners, pumpkins, Advent and Christmas decorations and trees. The busiest times of the year for this committee are Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some of the work is quite physical - involving carrying bins of decorations and artificial trees back and forth from the banner room behind the chancel to the sanctuary, and climbing a ladder, for example.

If you are interested in finding out what this group is all about, please speak to me or to JoAnne Fotheringham or Linda Clark for more information. We have a few people who are willing to help mentor some new helpers so this year would be a great time to come on board.

In closing, I'd like to thank the dedicated "crew" who have been doing this work for years behind the scenes: JoAnne & Bill Fotheringham, Anne & Ken Dunn, Craig Lee, Linda Clark, Joan Jensen, Jane Di Cosmo. This group also included Madeline Johnston who was on the committee until her recent move from Richmond Hill. Dianne McLeod and I joined the group for the un-decorating of the sanctuary a few weeks ago and had an enjoyable time learning the ropes from these seasoned pros.
