The difference between Multiculturalism and Interculturalism from our Moderator Carmen Lansdowne's article "To Resist Evil":

"Multiculturalism is the fuel that feeds the status quo for Canadians. This is because the people in the dominant position can acknowledge the inherent dignity and rights of those they are both actively and passively oppressing without being required to remove their feet from the throats of those whom they're trampling. Interculturalism, on the other hand, encourages dialogue. It encourages all people who live in community together to be in dialogue, to get messy, to mix it up a bit, to feel each other's pain and discomfort. It requires us to love each other, warts and all. It requires truly hearing each other."
